Lighting lives, one watt at a time!

A solar-electrification initiative to power under-privileged households in Karachi

Check out our Pilot Project

The Problem

Imagine having to pay more than you earn, for electricity that others are consuming illegally. Imagine being forced to cut off your power supply simply because you cannot afford to pay for it. “Kunda connections” are an everyday reality. For those experiencing load shedding because of it, it’s an everyday nuisance. For those who are forced to live without electricity because of this, it’s an everyday nightmare. Getting inflated electricity bills has almost become a norm in our city, but being forced to live without electricity because you cannot afford to pay for what others illegally consume is something no one should have to live with. (kunda connections : illegal electricity connections usually made by tapping into the main grid)

Our Solution

Suraj Ki Kiran is an initiative to provide a low cost, constantly available and easy to use solar power to people facing this problem in different localities of Karachi, such as Shireen Jinnah colony.
